Connect with Your Library Liaison

Start by getting in touch with your school’s Library Liaison! Every Orange County Public Elementary School has a dedicated representative from the Orange County Library System as part of our Children’s Initiative. Liaisons can answer questions about library services and make school visits. Call 407.835.7323 to connect to your liaison or e-mail them directly. Middle and high schools should e-mail Youth Services Manager Vera Gubnitskaia at with questions or requests for services.

Library Outreach Services

The library makes strides each year to promote literacy and create greater awareness of the services we offer. We reach out to our community through storytelling, book talks, and other special events. Invite the library to your next community event! Contact your school’s Library Liaison or e-mail Youth Services Manager Vera Gubnitskaia at

Our professional storytellers are available free of charge to make school visits for large groups of students. They combine songs, stories, and popular books in fun sessions for all ages. Call 407.835.7323 to schedule a date for this popular service.

Middle School Book Talks

Our recommended reading list for middle school students lists books that deal with issues important to young adults. Our staff conduct entertaining, interactive book talk sessions that will entice students to explore the books on their own. Each school year, OCLS offers book talk sessions to 7th graders at all OCPS middle schools. Contact Youth Programs Coordinator Jennifer Ulmer at to book now!

Tiny Tales Workshop for Teen Parents

In an effort to promote early literacy, the library offers a Tiny Tales Workshop for teen parents. The storyteller will demonstrate a Tiny Tales: Rhyme Time for You and Your Baby program especially designed for infants from birth to 18 months and their parents. The program introduces reading readiness and fine motor skills. The workshop can be scheduled at the library as well as an outreach. Contact Crystal Sullivan at to schedule the workshop.

Field Trips to the Library

A field trip to the library is a great way to celebrate literacy any time of year. The Orlando Public Library offers several programs for your school to choose from including library tours, storytimes, database classes, and family nights. Branch locations offer storytimes and general library tours as well as tours that may highlight a specific part of the collection. Tours of a branch are available by special arrangement with the particular location of interest. The best part is all library field trip services are free of charge.

Children’s Library Tours

We recommend tours of the Children's Library at the Orlando Public Library for children in first grade through high school. Youth tours last for approximately 20 minutes. For groups with youth ages 13 to 18, the tour includes Club Central, our area just for teens. Call 407.835.7323 to schedule a visit or browse our Parent and Teacher page for more library tours information. Tours of your local library branch are also available by special arrangement.

We offer storytimes at the Orlando Public Library for groups of up to 100 children on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:15 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 10:15 a.m., and 10:45 a.m. Storytimes can be combined with a library tour for a great field trip! Call 407.835.7323 to register. Branch storytimes are offered at various dates and times of the week and you should call 407.835.7323 to find out the day and time for the location closest to you.

Dive Into Databases
