The Regional System of District and School Support (RSDSS) was established by the California Department of Education under the authority of the No Child Left Behind Act. The system funds support to Title I schools and districts to improve student achievement and to close the achievement gap.

RCOE and the Assessment and Accountability Services unit serve as lead LEA for the 4 inland county region (Riverside, Inyo, Mono, San Bernardino counties).

RSDSS funds the Assessment and Accountability Services collaboration with districts, Instructional Services, Riverside County Office of Education Special Education unit, the Riverside County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), the California Comprehensive Assistance Center,  the California Department of Education and other agencies to: 

• Help districts implement the requirements of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001.

• Offer regional professional development on high-priority topics for high poverty schools and districts.

• Provide grant funded intensive support for differentiated instruction and English Language Development to eligible schools.

• Select and use scientifically research-based materials and practices. ( More information)

• Support the improvement of student achievement in Title I Program Improvement particularly in Corrective Action schools and schools planning for and implementing Alternative Governance/Restructuring mandates from NCLB.

• Support districts identified as Program Improvement districts to improve district systemic support for schools and increase student achievement.

• Promote meaningful parent, community, and business involvement.

• Coordinate and facilitate meetings of Riverside County Categorical Project Directors and English Learner Directors.
