Dr. David Mann was welcomed as an affiliate member physician to the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute in 2009. He has been a leading medical oncologist and hematologist in Northwest Florida since 1997. Dr. Mann established his practice in the Pensacola area following completion of a fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville. His initial affiliation was with the Medical Center Clinic and West Florida Hospital of Pensacola, before joining the nationally recognized 21st Century Oncology group and establishing the Crestview Cancer Center in Crestview, Florida.
A Pennsylvania native, Dr. Mann received his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. in the field of chemical engineering. Continuing with the pursuit of a master's degree at The Pennsylvania State University he developed his master's thesis on perhaps the most difficult engineering feat, the human body. Studying fluid dynamics and the properties of blood, his thesis dealt with identifying a relationship between arterial wall shear stresses and the generation of atherosclerotic plaques. His interest in medicine piqued by this work, Dr. Mann was accepted to the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1987. After graduating in 1991, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. In 1994 he was accepted as a fellow in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Florida Shands and VAMC Hospitals.
Dr. Mann has remained actively involved in medical research throughout his education and career, continuing to generate publications and actively participating in clinical trials. He has continued academic pursuits by serving as an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Florida State University School of Medicine. He is currently the Chief of Staff at the North Okaloosa Medical Center, as well as a member of their Board of Trustees.
