Through Friday, August 10, Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) is observing a summer schedule. The College will be closed Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day and Wednesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Service hours for summer 2012 are as follows:
- Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

TNCC Launches Online Incident Reporting Tool to Enhance Campus Safety

Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) has launched a new online incident reporting platform called Threat Assessment, Incident Management and Prevention Services (TIPS) that allows students, faculty, staff and others on campus to confidentially report potentially harmful incidents.
An award-winning suite of web-based tools developed by the privately held organization Awareity, the platform empowers individuals to anonymously report suspicious activities involving assault, weapons, illegal drug/alcohol use, harassment or intimidation, vandalism, threats of violence, suicide risk, sexual harassment, abuse and other incidents.
TNCC Honored Local Citizens During 43rd Commencement

Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) presented the Thomas Nelson Medallion, Dana B. Hamel Award and Distinguished Alumni Award during its 43rd commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 16 at the Hampton University Convocation Center. The awards honor citizens who champion higher education and public service.
The Thomas Nelson Medallion honors citizens who exemplify the spirit and highest ideals of Thomas Nelson – patriot, soldier-statesman and governor. This year’s recipient is the Honorable Melanie Rapp Beale, a former Virginia delegate and past president of the TNCC Educational Foundation.
Library Reopening Delay

The reopening of Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Hampton Campus library has been rescheduled for Monday, May 21 due to construction delays. Beginning Thursday, May 17 staff and services will be available at the following locations:
- Computer access, Printing, Library Cards, Research Assistance – Available in the Academic Computer Lab, Room 255, Hampton Campus.
- Course Reserves, Book Return, Library Cards – Available in the Tutorial Learning Center, Room 253, Hampton Campus.

Two TNCC Students to Receive High Honors During May 16 Commencement

Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) named Michelle A. Robinson and Benjamin L. Jordan as recipients of the 2011-2012 President’s and Vice President’s Awards, respectively. In acknowledgement of the two summa cum laude graduates’ exceptional academic performance, the awards will be presented during TNCC’s 43rd commencement exercises on Wednesday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Hampton University Convocation Center.
Robinson and Jordan are among over 700 students who applied to graduate during the 2011-2012 academic year. This figure includes students who completed their curriculum requirements in summer 2011, fall 2011, and those who applied for graduation in spring 2012. Graduating students will receive Associate’s degrees, certificates, career studies certificates, or a combination of these academic credentials. Criteria for the President’s and Vice President’s awards include attaining the highest cumulative grade point average, completing at least 60 semester hours of course work and receiving an Associate’s degree for the current year, among other criteria.
