Birmingham Mayor to kick off TROY Black History Month observance
TROY – The University Activities Council at Troy University will welcome Birmingham Mayor Bernard Kincaid to speak at its Black History Month kickoff on Jan. 30.
Kincaid formerly served as an educational consultant and worked at Miles College as contract director of development. He retired from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as assistant professor and assistant to the dean for cultural diversity and minority affairs.
Kincaid received his bachelor’s degree from Miles College, his master’s from Miami University and his doctorate from the University of Alabama. Kincaid also received his juris doctorate degree from the Birmingham School of Law. After he was elected mayor in 1999, he was invited to attend the Harvard University School of Government’s program as one of the 13 newly elected mayors.
