TROY, Ala. – Troy University is looking to reach prospective students through a new online recruitment program called Troy Smart Search.
This program is operated and managed through an enrollment management company known as GoalQuest. Through online monitoring, GoalQuest targets prospective students and creates innovative solutions to help higher education admissions counselors in the recruitment process.
Admissions counselors initiate Troy Smart Search by using national test scores to locate rising high school juniors. Students’ information is then sent to GoalQuest where the company contacts students and encourages them to log in the Smart Search Website which is www.destinationtroy.edu.
The Troy Smart Search Web site includes articles on college preparation, information about majors, surveys, an area for students to contact admissions counselors and a TROY student UBLOG.
UBLOG will feature blogs from seven current TROY students. Jared Cartee, a TROY admissions counselor, said the admissions department selected the students with diversity in mind. “We tried to pick a wide variety of students,” Cartee said.
The seven students chosen include: Chris Bowens, a TROY football player from Columbus, Ga.; Suzanne Bhatti, a Troy native; Kevin Dew from Montgomery; David Leblanc of Fairhope; Aderonke Olaleye, Troy University’s 2006 Freshman of the Year from Baltimore; Amy Scaro from Pelham; and Nicole Nicholas of Millbrook.
Student bloggers will be given ideas on what to post, but have free reign on blog discussion as long as it pertains to the University.
One of the more important aspects of this program is that its technology allows GoalQuest to track frequent viewers. This information aids the admissions department in locating students who are serious about enrollment.
Cartee referred to Troy Smart Search as an early identification program. “It really initiates the application process,” he said. “We are excited about this new program and really expect to see a rise in applications due to this new web site.”
