Troy University to have 13th annual insurance symposium
TROY – Troy University’s Risk Management and Insurance Program will host the 13th annual Collegiate Symposium for Excess & Surplus Lines Nov. 2-3 in Birmingham.
The symposium brings together Troy University students with students from other universities, insurance industry executives and insurance professionals, who can earn nine hours of Alabama Continuing Education Credit.
Troy University, in association with the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices, will offer symposium attendees sessions on “The Role of Lloyd’s of London in the Global Economy,” “The Future of Insurance Regulation,” “Surplus Lines Distribution Systems,” “Navigating the Uncharted Risks of China,” “Medical Malpractice Insurance,” and “The Necessity of Underwriting Profit.”

In addition to the education sessions, Cooper Gay Risk Services broker and TROY graduate Jonathan McKenzie will provide a NAPSLO presentation during a Friday night reception. Peachtree Special Risk Brokers Senior Vice-President Elizabeth B. White will provide the keynote address during a Saturday luncheon.
Dr. Carol Jordan, eminent scholar and director of TROY’s RMI program, said this year’s symposium also offered the first-ever Career Fair.
“Recruiters from the companies being represented will have an opportunity to meet and talk with some of the best students majoring in insurance in the country,” she said.
Some 98 students from 16 universities will attend at the symposium, and companies slated to attend the career fair include:
