Dr. Samuel T. Shelton
Assistant Professor of Political Science

Dr. Samuel T. Shelton joined the Troy University faculty in 2002 as an assistant professor of political science. He received a Ph.D. in political science from North Carolina State University, an Ed.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a master’s degree in public administration from The American University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Emory University.

His research and academic presentations have focused on effective management of county government as well as effective judicial caseload management. He serves on the editorial board of Politics and Policy, an academic journal.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Shelton served for 19 years as District Court Administrator for Wisconsin’s Sixth Judicial District. He was also contracted as a court management consultant for the General Court of the Republic of Georgia, Tbilisi, Georgia.

He is a member of the American Political Science Association, the Alabama Political Science Association, the American Society for Public Administration and the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management.
