The Kent State Trumbull advisors look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals! Students who work with an advisor increase their chances for success in completing an academic degree. Advisors can assist you with academic planning and help you navigate a successful pathway to graduation.

Kent State Trumbull academic advisors are available for appointments or on a walk-in basis during scheduled hours. Kent Trumbull also hosts academic advisors from other Kent State campuses to support students who are enrolled in select bachelor's degree programs or who will complete their degree at another campus.

If you are a student who started at Kent State in Summer 2012 or after, you are required to meet with an advisor. Here are the answers to some FAQ’s about required advising.

Who has required advising?
All undergraduate students who were admitted in Summer 2012 or after, and who are registered for classes.

Why do I have to meet with an advisor?
Meeting with an advisor can help you in so many ways. Advisors can guide you in choosing classes, deciding on a major, and providing suggestions and referrals if you are having trouble in a class just to name a few.

How often do I have to meet with an advisor for required advising?
All freshmen and sophomore students admitted for summer 2012 and beyond are required to meet with an advisor once per semester. Students at junior standing and beyond will be required to meet at least once per year.

How do I know for sure if I have required advising?
Stop in to the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Services or email trumbulladvisor@kent.edu from your Kent State email address.

Should I go to advising even if it is not "required" for me?
Absolutely, advising is a valuable experience and tool for you to utilize throughout your academic career. Your advisor offers knowledge and skills to assist you in reaching your goals.
