Dr. Lovejoy Das
Dr. Lovejoy Das is a graduate of State University of New York at Stony Brook, New York. He holds a Masters degree in Applied Mathematics from SUNY, Stony Brook, New York and holds a Ph.D and D.Sc.( Doctor of Science) degrees in Pure Mathematics from University of Lucknow, India. He joined the Kent campus faculty in 1989. At present he is a Professor and the Coordinator of the Mathematics Department at Kent State Tuscarawas Campus. He has been an active researcher in the field of Differential Geometry and has published more than 50 research papers in prestigious national and international journals of mathematics. He has been honored with the Distinguished Teaching Award (DTA), Kent State's most prestigious award for tenure track faculty members across eight campuses. During 2005 he was the recipient of the North East Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE) Award for excellence in teaching. In 2006, he was nominated for the U.S. Professors of the Year Award given by the Council of the Advancement and Support of Education, Washington DC. On the website “ Rate my Professor.com” , Kent State students have consistently rated him as the best teacher. Dr. Das was chosen by a panel of editors among the Ohio's top educators for his excellence in education and was recognized in December 2005 issue of Ohio magazine. Besides this, he was recognized as the winner of the 1996 Distinguished Teaching Award and twice he was named the most popular professor at Kent State Tuscarawas Campus. In 1996 he had also received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the Ohio Association of Two Years Colleges. Dr. Das has a passion for teaching and is committed to undergraduate education. Dr. Das's teaching style is accessible and demanding. He is always available to his students and possesses all qualities that drive students to achieve and succeed in their careers. He is very active in the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America. He is the founder and the advisor of the student chapter of the Mathematical Association of America at Kent Tuscarawas Campus.
