Engineering of Information Technology

The digital information revolution brings with it new and dynamic ways of maintaining competitiveness, responding to customers, defining customer needs and improving organizational decision-making. This revolution is strongly influencing every segment of our economy, including information technology (IT) companies, banking, finance, retail, education and government enterprises.

IT touches upon our everyday lives through the Internet; client/server networks; organizational intranets designed to structure, access and use information; and distance education. The need for IT workers is great, and there is a wide range of jobs in this field. According to a survey conducted by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), there are more than 600,000 positions available in broad applications.

The Engineering of Information Technology Degree is available at Kent State University at Tuscarawas. Students in this program will acquire the necessary education and training to obtain jobs that focus on the design and troubleshooting of systems in information acquisition, storage, processing, conversion, transmission and display.

Along with taking core engineering technology courses, students will study digital and electronic systems, robotics, microsystems and fiber optics communications, network and advanced network engineering and electronic communication.

An associate degree is granted after the successful completion of 70 semester hours of coursework and prepares students for employment by allowing them to concentrate the majority of their studies in technical and related coursework.

With an Associate of Applied Science degree in engineering of information technology from Kent State Tuscarawas, you will be qualified for positions such as:
