UAB Business and Auxiliary Services provides important enterprise-wide services to the campus and medical center for UAB students, patients, faculty, staff, alumni and guests. These services include Real Estate Management (acquisitions/ divestments /leasing), Parking and Transportation Services, Physical Security, Printing and Mailing Services, Bartow Arena Operations, Pager Communications, Travel Services, and Warehouse Services. Our mission is to support the entire UAB enterprise in achieving the overall UAB mission in a customer friendly, efficient manner. New Name New Bookstore - The UAB Bookstore
New Store Opens in Hill Student Center
At the end of December 2015 we opened a state-of-the-art college bookstore in the new Hill Student Center. The store is comprised of two floors with an expanded selection of UAB clothing/merchandise on the 2nd level and textbooks/convenience items on the 1st level. We also changed our name to reflect our mission as UAB's only official college bookstore. Look for special events throughout the Spring semester.
The UAB Bookstore will be awarding scholarships totaling $50,000 to UAB students for the 2015-16 academic year. Since the beginning of UAB’s partnership with Barnes & Noble a total of $250,000 has been awarded to UAB students. The bookstore’s textbook rental program has helped save UAB students over $1,000,000 since its start a few years ago. The bookstore has also set up an email address, firstname.lastname@example.org, for students to use for any financial aid questions relating to textbooks and supplies. Students can also call the Bookstore for assistance by dialing 205.996.2665.
The Real Estate Office handles all real estate transactions involving the purchase, sale and leasing of property. As UAB grows, purchases are needed to accommodate new buildings and parking. Gifts given to the University often come in the form of property. If UAB cannot use the property for its academic and research mission, these properties are placed on the market for sale.
The UAB Travel Center, in association with ADTRAV Travel Management, assists UAB employees not only with travel arrangements involving university official business, but with their personal vacations as well. The UAB Travel Team is a special team of travel agents that is familiar with UAB policies and procedures.
Managed by UAB Business and Auxiliary Services, the Bell/Wallace Gymnasium is a multi-purpose facility that is utilized as the venue for activities ranging from Intercollegiate basketball, volleyball practices, and any Intercollegiate sport that need an indoor facility in case of inclement weather. UAB Athletics and the UAB Human Studies Departments are the main users, but the facility can also be rented by other UAB groups for various activities.
Two outdoor areas are also managed by UAB Business and Auxiliary Services, the football/track field located on 12thstreet and 7th avenue and the tennis courts located on 11th avenue and 15th street.
