That is certainly true at UAB, where we recognize that people—our alumni, donors, volunteers, students, parents, physicians, faculty, and staff—are and always will be our most valuable asset. UAB is the thriving academic and medical research enterprise it is today because of the vision, passion, and generosity of those who believe in making a difference. They have dared to join us in dreaming great things for Birmingham and beyond, and as a result lives have been changed.
UAB is about empowering individuals to achieve at their highest potential and move ideas into action. The first generation college student, the young researcher, the tireless volunteer—they are UAB. UAB is about building community and making Birmingham a better place, but we are not bound by geographical limits. From service projects in Downtown Birmingham to work to eradicate AIDS in Zambia to establishing healthy communities in the Black Belt, UAB is a place with a local mission and a global vision.
