Kai Jiao, M.D., Ph.D., has joined the Genetics and Genomic Sciences Theme leadership as Associate Theme Director. He will work closely with Dan Bullard, Ph.D., GGS Theme Director, to continue the strong tradition of educational and research excellence in genetics at UAB. We welcome Dr. Jiao to this new position.

Bruce R. Korf, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chair of the UAB Department of Genetics, has been named president of the American College of Medical Genetics Foundation for Genetic  and Genomic Medicine. The foundation is a national nonprofit foundation dedicated to improving health and patient care through the support of research, education and the safe, effective practice of genetic and genomic medicine. The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is the cornerstone of a 150-acre biotech campus strategically located in Cummings Research Park, the nation’s second largest research park. Researchers at HudsonAlpha are making discoveries and transforming new knowledge into solutions to make significant advancements in health, wellbeing, and livelihood.
