iOS9 and myUK Mobile

Apple has released iOS 9 and will soon release OS X El Capitan. The University of Kentucky Analytics and Technologies (UKAT) team has discovered a number of compatibility issues with iOS9 and possibly OS X El Capitan and campus services. myUK Mobile is significantly affected by this update. If you plan to upgrade, please be aware that your ability to use these services may be affected – we are working diligently to correct this situation. iOS8 continues to work without issue. UKAT will issue further statements as progress is made to improve compatibility to these services.

Hola VPN

If you are using the free Hola VPN client.
Please remove this from your system as the client can be used to compromise your machine and generate messages to other sites from your machine.

Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise

Microsoft will release the Windows 10 Enterprise operating system on Monday, August 3rd.  The University of Kentucky Analytics and Technologies (UKAT) team is not targeting a release to the UK Download site ( until verification of UK enterprise application support by Windows 10.  UK faculty and staff should contact their departmental desktop support for assistance with Windows 10 installation. 
Please note that testing of the Windows 10 operating system has revealed compatibility issues with current UK applications. The list shown below is not inclusive. 
  • SAP Web applications in Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 and Edge
  • Cisco VPN clients (v5.0.07.0410, v5.0.07.0440, and v4.9.01.0080)
  • Cisco applications such as IP Communicator and Agent Desktop/Supervisor
  • Microsoft Endpoint Protection 2012
  • Kronos Workforce Central v6.2 and earlier versions
Due to the number of known compatibility issues, UKAT strongly encourages faculty and staff not to upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise at this time. UKAT will publish additional communication once current UK applications are functional in the Windows 10 environment.

Google 2-Step Verification

UK Analytics and Technologies (UKAT) is excited to announce updated security for Google Apps for Education users. As part of a continuing investment and improvement to UK’s cyber infrastructure, UKAT will add a 2-Step Verification (2SV) option for users of UK’s Google Apps or UK’s Gmail domain Users can choose to maintain their current Google Apps security or activate the 2-step authentication.
