Office 365 provides you with new ways to collaborate, take notes, and ultimately get things done. Also, with Office 365, students will enjoy the latest versions of Microsoft Office applications on up to five PCs or Macs while having access to 1TB of secure cloud-based file storage and sharing.

We are dedicated to helping University of Kentucky students succeed and believe that giving you access to Office 365 is one way we can do that.

What are the benefits?
Single sign on experience With Office 365, you don't need to remember another user name and password. Your Office 365 (formerly Microsoft Live) user name is now your University of Kentucky link blue id followed by (ex. Your password is the same one used for link blue. Log in
Store, sync, and share files simply With 1TB of OneDrive file storage, you'll have plenty of space for all your files. Plus, because your files are stored online, you can share with people in or outside the University of Kentucky, from wherever you're working, whenever you need to. And with multi-party HD video, content sharing, and shared calendars, you'll always be in sync with your classmates.
Work together on the same file No more emailing documents around and losing track of the latest version. Easily add, respond to, and track comments and status updates on one version of the document. You control who sees and edits each file. And you can create, edit, and review with others to avoid back-and-forth hassles and save time in the process.
Optimized note-taking tools Type or handwrite notes, capture webpages, record audio/video, embed spreadsheets, and more with OneNote, available on all your devices.

What is Office 365 Education for Students?

Office 365 Education for Students is an Office 365 plan that is available for free to students who attend the University of Kentucky. This plan allows students to install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, and Access on up to 5 PCs or Macs and Office apps on other mobile devices including Windows tablets and iPads®. The plan also includes unlimited OneDrive storage, and students can edit and collaborate using Office Online, and Lync.

Where do I go to access Office 365? What are the eligibility requirements for Office 365 Education for Students?

Schools qualify for this benefit when they have licensed Office institution-wide for their faculty and staff through Microsoft’s Volume Licensing program and are enrolled to allow students to sign-up directly with Microsoft. Active full- or part-time students at qualifying schools are eligible if they: • Have a school-specific email address provided by the school (for example, that can receive external email • Are of legal age to sign up for an online offer individually (13 years old) • Have Internet access

How long can I use this plan?

If you are eligible, you can use the plan until you graduate or are no longer enrolled at a qualified school. Student eligibility may be re-verified at any time. At expiration, the Office applications enter a reduced-functionality mode, which means documents can be viewed but it isn’t possible to edit or create new documents. In addition, online services associated with the school email address, for example Office Online and OneDrive, will no longer work.

Who manages the OneDrive account provided with this offer?

This account is associated with the school and should be used for school-appropriate content, such as homework and schoolwork. Permissions and access can be changed by the University of Kentucky at any time.

Can I share the plan with others?

Office 365 Education for Students is licensed for use only by the eligible student at the University of Kentucky.

I'm having trouble installing Office, where can I get help?

If you’re experiencing issues trying to install Office on your PC or Mac, get Microsoft support on Office 365 here. If you're still having trouble, call the University of Kentucky IT Help Desk at 859-218-4357.

Is there a mechanism to increase the size of your OneDrive space if needed?

No. Microsoft currently offers 1TB with unlimited space as part of the 2015 solution roadmap.

Does Office 365 provide full access to the iPad version of office now?

Yes, but it requires IOS 7.1 or later.

What ability does One Drive have to restore deleted files? I would imagine there is some sort of system in place (file versioning, deleted file view, etc) ?

OneDrive has a recycle bin accessible through the web interface on the navigation bar.

1 HealthCare students who log in using “MC” (ex. MC\stu222) will continue to use the current email system. Healthcare students will enjoy the other benefits of Office 365 including an improved download experience, collaboration and 1TB of storage on OneDrive.
