Kara Miller joined the English department after teaching at Babson College, where she taught courses in rhetoric and writing for media. At Tufts University, where she received her Ph.D., her dissertation focused on how presidents communicate with the public during wartime.

Professor's Miller’s work has appeared in The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, Boston Magazine, and The International Herald Tribune. Currently, she is a contributor to WGBH-TV (PBS) in Boston, serving as a guest panelist on “Beat the Press.” She also does commentary on WGBH’s NPR station (89.7) and is a frequent panelist on “The Emily Rooney Show,” which she has guest hosted.

Professor Miller has a deep interest in national politics and has done media analysis of every election since 2004 (where she did analysis for NECN from the Democratic National Convention in Boston). She currently writes the "Culture Club" blog on Boston.com. Previously, she did on-air commentary for NECN (New England Cable News). From 2003 to 2010, she worked as a contributing columnist for The MetroWest Daily News covering politics, media, and pop culture.
