Jorge M. DeAbreu received his B.A. in Spanish from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a minor in Portuguese. He is currently enrolled in the Portuguese Studies Program leading to the Master of Arts degree at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a concentration in Brazilian literature. He is a part-time instructor in the Foreign Language Department, where he teaches elementary and intermediate Spanish courses and he has also taught some language courses in the Department of Portuguese.

Besides teaching Spanish and Portuguese language courses, Mr. DeAbreu is a recognized medical interpreter for Southcoast Hospitals Group where he provides interpretation and translation in both languages for the non-English speaking patients of the community.

Mr. DeAbreu is a member of the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MAFLA), Member of Sigma Delta Pi Honorary Society, Active Member of Phi Alpha Gamma honored by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2008 and a member of the International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA).
