MARCELLE GAUVIN: Biography

Marcelle Gauvin's presence as a jazz vocalist/educator has consistently been on the rise since her debut recording "Faces Of Love" with the Whaling City Sound record label. Since that time, her discography includes "Opening The American Songbook" & the Grammy nominated "Edge Of The Pond" (Best Jazz Vocal Album of the Year). Her recordings receive both national & international airplay and have been featured in JazzTimes, All About Jazz, Jazz Hot, JazzUSA, Jazz Quarterly, 52nd Street Jazz, Cadence Magazine & Jazz Review. She has appeared as a headliner at festivals & concerts throughout the northeast United States and is well established in the New England jazz circuit.

Marcelle Gauvin is an active member of the International Association of Jazz Educators & a faculty member at UMass Dartmouth where she teaches Applied Jazz Voice & Class Voice for non-majors. She maintains Marcelle Gauvin Voice Studios in Fall River, MA where she offers private & group vocal instruction. A multi-time Massachusetts Cultural Council grant recipient, she has received state recognition for her innovative educational programs & performances.

Marcelle Gauvin has studied jazz improvisation with Bobby Mcferrin, Matt Richard & Rick Britto. Her vocal instructors include Dante Pavone & Jaqueline Bazinet Cobert (classical technique), Eddie Watson, Wendy Parr of the Seth Riggs Institute & Jeanette LoVetri (jazz/popular technique) and Lynn Schuller of the McCloskey Institute for voice rehabilitation. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from the University of Massachusetts.
