SEVERIN HAINES: Biography

Severin Haines received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Swain School of Design and his Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University's School of Art and Architecture. Haines is an Professor of Painting in the Fine Arts Department.

Since 1977, "Sig" has exhibited in the local area with numerous one-person exhibitions in local galleries including: the Nemasket Gallery, the Water Street Gallery of Mattapoisett, the Marion Arts Center, and Facets Gallery of Fall River. Sig has mounted a retrospective exhibition of his work at Keystone Junior College in Pennsylvania. He has also exhibited with one-person and group shows in Norway. His work has been included in group exhibitions in New York and Boston.

Sig has been the recipient of two Arts Lottery Council grants for murals at the Nemasket Group and the Wood School, both in Fairhaven. He has curated three exhibitions for the New Bedford Art Museum.
