In fall 2011 the College began offering a first-in-the-UMass system bachelor's degree in bioengineering that prepares students for careers in the fast-growing biotechnology/biomedical field.
Beginning in spring 2012 the College of Engineering will offer a new interdisciplinary PhD program in Engineering and Applied Science. Over 40 faculty from eight departments and three colleges will join in leading doctoral students in advanced study and research in such areas as applied mechanics and materials, computational science and engineering, computer science and information science, or industrial and systems engineering.
