In order to access our linux labs we prefer students use PuTTY and WinSCP, both available from our software repository or online

http://winscp.sourceforge.net/eng/

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

The Linux machines have the following host names for use in PuTTY and WinSCP:

alaska.cis.umassd.edu
arizona.cis.umassd.edu
arkansas.cis.umassd.edu
idaho.cis.umassd.edu
illinois.cis.umassd.edu
indiana.cis.umassd.edu
iowa.cis.umassd.edu
michigan.cis.umassd.edu
minnesota.cis.umassd.edu
mississippi.cis.umassd.edu
missouri.cis.umassd.edu
newhampshire.cis.umassd.edu
newjersey.cis.umassd.edu
newmexico.cis.umassd.edu
newyork.cis.umassd.edu

Use uranium.cis.umassd.edu as a last resort then ssh into another machine once logged in if you are having problems connecting from off campus

When logging in remember to use your linux account and password and not your windows account. These two accounts are seperate entities.
