Sustainability Studies Program Academic Unit was approved by UMass Dartmouth in Spring 2010. The SUS academic unit works collaboratively with the Sustainability Office at UMass Dartmouth and with all seven of the UMass Dartmouth colleges to make its offerings widespread and multidisciplinary.

What We Do

In addition to SUS-specific courses, the messages and challenges sustainability are being integrated across departments on campus. Our goal is for all students, whatever their major, to graduate from UMass Dartmouth with an understanding of how sustainability impacts their interests. To learn about this urgent topic, students can also engage in earning a sustainability minor, undergraduate sustainability certificate and graduate certificate.

Because sustainability studies are so mutidisciplinary - from eco-friendly business management to biomimicry to green urban planning to exploring indiginous lifestyles - Sustainability Studies networks widely between the traditional silos of learning. It also reaches into the community to make college interns available for real-life challenges in helping organizations and towns apply sustainable goals.
