Let's look at the Media Library improvements found in T4 version 7.

We'll discuss these improvements by category because using the Media Library still falls into the same two categories:

Accessing the Media Library directly

The Media Library can now be accessed from a more convenient place; just go to the CONTENT drop down menu and select MEDIA LIBRARY.

Note: If you are modifying content, you can still click the INSERT MEDIA button to access items already in the Media Library; in this case, you don't need to go to the CONTENT menu. For more information, see accessing the Media Library when placing media into your content.

Searching for media

In addition to browsing for media, you can find media by doing a keyword search using the Search Box; this function will locate media with matching words in its name or alt tag.

Adding media

As shown below, the ADD MEDIA button is now larger, making it easier to use.

Accessing the Media Library when placing media into your content

If you are modifying content and have selected the INSERT MEDIA button (which is now larger for easier access), you can view and add media to your content using either of the two ways described below:

Detailed Mode / list view

  1. To view a list of media item names, go to the appropriate Media Library folder and select DETAILED MODE, also known as LIST VIEW.
  2. From the list of media item names, click the link for the item you want to insert into your content.
  3. Click SELECT.
  4. The image will appear in the content area; you no longer need to scroll to the bottom of the page.

Preview Mode / thumbnail view

Preview Mode (thumbnail view) works like this:

  1. To preview small thumbnail images of media items, go to the appropriate Media Library folder and select PREVIEW MODE, also known as THUMBNAIL VIEW.
  2. To select a media item from the group of images, just mouse over the image then click the SELECT button that appears directly below the image, as shown in the image below:

The image below, an example of Preview mode, shows the location of the Search Box, Detailed Mode (list view) button, and Preview Mode (thumbnail view) button.
