The USF logo is the cornerstone of the USF brand. It is vitally important that the USF logo is used consistently on all print and electronic communications.

Can I use the USF logo?
You can use the USF logo if you are producing print and / or electronic communications on behalf of an official department/office within the university. However, please note that you must obtain prior written permission before you can use the logo through the logo approvals process.

Do I need permission to use the logo on printed materials?
Yes. You must obtain prior written permission before you use the USF logo in print, including newsletters, annual reports, brochures, posters, etc. Please note: You must use a high-resolution, print-ready version of the logo on all printed materials.

Do I need permission to use the logo in an electronic format?
Yes. You must obtain prior written permission before you use the USF logo in an electronic format, including on a website, in a mobile app, on a social media site, etc. Please note: You must use a clean, web-ready version of the logo for electronic use.

When should I use the USF logo?
You should use the official USF logo on all print and electronic communications designed for an external audience, such as websites, social media sites, mobile applications, ads, brochures, etc.

I've noticed there is more than one logo. Which logo should I use?
You have the option of using either the USF logo or the USF college/division logo for your area. For example, if you are designing a flier for the English Department, you may use either the USF logo or the USF College of Arts and Sciences logo.

The USF athletic mark (often referred to as the "bull horns") is reserved for use by USF Athletics and may only be used with permission from USF Athletics. The USF seal is reserved for use by the president. The USF System logo is reserved for use by USF System offices.

I see there is a new variation of the USF logo that includes the words "Tampa Bay." When should I use this logo?
The USF Tampa Bay logo option was developed for use in advertising, recruitment and news materials that are targeted for an out-of-state audience.

The university name is not changed; this is simply a way to indicate where the university is located for those audiences outside the state who may be unfamiliar with USF.

When mentioning the university name in print, please refer to it this way: University of South Florida, Tampa Bay.

Can I alter the USF logo?
No. You cannot alter the USF logo in any way. You cannot change the fonts, change the colors, remove elements, or add elements.

In addition, you cannot tilt the logo; screen the logo; stretch the logo; place the logo on a busy background; or place the logo too close to other elements.

A clear zone of "white space" must surround the USF logo to ensure that it is clearly displayed and easy to read.

Can I create a logo for my department / office?
No. All departments/offices within the university must use either the USF logo or their USF college/division logo. There are no exceptions.

Can I create a logo for my center / institute?
Yes. Centers and Institutes are primarily interdisciplinary research groups that may involve multiple colleges and other universities or organizations. As such, they are academic organizations, not departments or offices of USF, and therefore may develop their own distinct logos. More information about USF policy on centers and institutes may be found here. USF-based centers and institutes may include the official USF logo on their communications.

Can someone assist me in designing a printed piece?
Yes. USF Printing and Graphic Design Services is available to assist you in designing a variety of printed materials, including custom campus maps.

I've reviewed all the information availble on this site, but I still have questions. Can someone help?
Yes. Email University Communications and Marketing for assistance.
