Welcome to the Admissions website!  Now that you know that we are Building a Better World, we invite you to become a part of Virginia State University.  

Virginia State is located high above the Appomattox River with a magnificent view of the historic city of Petersburg. The University has a population of 5,600 students who are majoring in one of our 34 undergraduate programs leading to a bachelor’s degree, 13 masters level programs or doctoral programs in Education and Psychology.

We are approximately two hours from our Nation’s capital, (Washington, D.C.); two and a half hours from the oceanfront of Virginia Beach, one hour from Colonial Williamsburg and 30 minutes from the State Capital, (Richmond, VA ).

The University's mission is to promote and sustain academic programs that integrate instruction, research and extension/public service in a design most responsive to the needs and endeavors of individuals and groups within its scope of influence. 

Virginia State University is accredited through the The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
