Graduate Off Campus Courses

GENERAL INFORMATION

Registration:  Student registration, except where noted, will take place during the first class session.  Students should be prepared to provide payment for the course at the time of registration.  If you are interested in receiving further information about a course prior to registration, call the Office of General & Continuing Education at (804) 524-5377.   For weekend classes, all students must attend and register on that Friday.  No registration will be held after the second class meetingIf a student has not paid, they can no longer attend the class.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

Counseling:  The faculty/adjuncts  and staff of the Office of General & Continuing Education are available to counsel students on information about courses, programs, or admission requirements.  Students should call (804) 524-5984/5985 to arrange a conference time for  Graduate Enrollment  or call (804) 524-5377 for Continuing Education information.

Class Attendance:  Attendance at all class meetings is expected.  In case of emergency absences, occasioned by illness or order to duty out of town, any course work missed must be made up promptly.  Where indicated, credit may not be granted if the student has an excessive number of absences.

Withdrawals:  A student who finds it impossible to complete a course for which he or she has registered should inform the office of General & Continuing Education that he/she wishes to apply officially for withdrawal in good standing.  Written notification is required.  Ceasing to attend class or notifying the instructor does not constitute official withdrawal.  You must fill out a withdrawal form to officially drop the course you are enrolled in.

Refunds:  Dropping a course does not constitute a withdrawal for purposes of refund of fees.  Request for refund must be made in writing to the Office of General & Continuing Education office.  The postmark will determine the amount of refund.  A partial or full tuition refund may be recommended by the Office of General & Continuing Education office, in cases of accident, illness, or other circumstances which constitute, in his opinion, a serious emergency.  If authorized, refunds are made on the following basis:  before the first class meeting, full refund; before the second class meeting, a 75% refund; after the second class meeting, no refund.

Liability:  Students sponsored wholly or partially by an agency should be aware that the students are ultimately responsible for any defaults in payment by the sponsor.
