Solomon & Christopher lead Trojans to a Double Header Sweep

The Trojans used a combination of outstanding pitching and solid defense to pick up a double header sweep against the visiting Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley University on Sunday, Feb. 12. Right handed pitcher Rico Solomon struck-out 7 batters in game one and right handed pitcher Nicholas Christopher struck-out 4 batters in game two.

In game one, Rico Solomon (sophomore/ Atlanta, GA) pitched a complete game striking out 7 batters while scattering only 5 hits in a 2-1 win. Freshman Tyler Coleman (Chester, VA) led the Trojans with 2 hits and 1 RBI. J.D. McCarty also drove in a run.

In the second game, Nick Christopher (freshman/ Dinwiddie, VA) pitched 6 strong innings surrendering 4 hits in a 4-1 victory. William Tapp (freshman/ Dinwiddie, VA) relieved Christopher in the 7th inning, picking up the save. Christopher, Coleman, and McCarty all drove in a run. This win improved the Trojans record to 2-1 early in the season.

The Trojans return to action Saturday, February 18 for a three game series against Alderson & Broaddus College.
