New Classroom Building / Other Classroom Expansion

Goals: Create 15 modern classrooms for Registrar scheduling to meet the demands of Wright State University’s growth.

Create new auditorium style classrooms near the campus core to accommodate larger instruction areas as Wright State transitions to a semester system.

Taking into account scheduling challenges, changes in enrollment, and the transition from the academic quarter system to a semester system Wright State University has analyzed the inventory of the classrooms, by both number and capacity, and has determined a need exists for additional auditorium-size classrooms to carry out the teaching mission on the main campus. New high bay space is needed due to a lack of existing space suitable for renovation to meet this need.  Existing classroom space on campus will be renovated to create additional flat floor classrooms of fewer than 50 students.

This project will involve the development of the site, design and construction of the classroom building.

The new facility of approximately 31,000 gross square feet will be a single story building constructed at tunnel level of Millett Hall for easy student access to the Quad buildings.  It will contain two classrooms of 125 students and four classrooms at 72 students.  The new classrooms will be fitted with the latest technology for sound, AV and wireless connections.  Sustainable design principles will be incorporated into the building design.
