Network, network, network.  Attend College events, student club activities and professional associations.  Meet leaders in your career field and beyond.  Our faculty and staff will gladly introduce you to their business and community contacts at professional business events throughout the region.  Zachary Henderson, International Business

After graduating from Wright State on Saturday with a bachelor of science degree in international business, Zachary Henderson, 23, started work Monday, June 15, at Fondriest Environmental Inc., an environmental monitoring products company in Beavercreek, the same company that provided him with a six-month internship. Dayton Daily News, June 16, 2009.
“I took my professor’s advice and kept my resume updated on Wright Search. I hadn’t even started my internship search when Fondriest Environmental contacted me for an interview which led to an internship offer and ultimately a full-time job offer with a very exciting and growing company.
During college, I worked a lot of hours at a restaurant and banquet center, but I also decided to differentiate myself professionally with some amazing opportunities outside the classroom.  I completed two study abroad programs, one in China and a second program in Spain where I earned my Spanish language credits. Both of these programs were highly affordable.  In fact the quarter-long program in Dalian, China was far less expensive than living and going to school in the Dayton.  I also learned a lot by competing in the National Ethics Bowl under the guidance of Dr. Petrick and attending several networking and professional events sponsored by the Miami Valley International Trade Association. This professional event was and required by Ms. Snow for my IB capstone course.   When your professors tell you that networking is critical to your future career success, they are right!  Take advantage of the introductions they can make for you.”

Take advantage of study abroad opportunities. Study abroad is not just for international business majors!  Wright State has unbelievable exchange programs and internships in countries all over the world.  I spent four weeks during the summer traveling throughout Japan with an ambassador program hosted by WSU. International travel gave me a whole new perspective on the business world. It also helped me develop communication skills which are an essential career tool..
