Arijit Sengupta, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Information Systems
and Operations Management
Dr. Sengupta received his Ph.D. in computer science from Indiana University in 1997, and was the assistant professor and director of educational development there until 1999. He was also a faculty member at Georgia State University and at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business before joining Wright State in 2005. Dr. Sengupta’s research interests are in database systems for structured documents. He has led the development of the research prototype Docbase, a query processing software for SGML and XML documents. He also leads the Raj Soin College of Business RFID Center, which focuses on research and development of cost-effective RFID integration and middleware solutions for business.
Other research interests include data mining, semantic Web technologies and ontologies, human-computer interaction, bioinformatics, and case-based reasoning. Dr. Sengupta’s research has appeared in a variety of journals including The Journal of the American Society of Information Systems,
Information Technology and Management, The Journal of Database Management, and over 25 oficial conference proceedings. He is the recipient of research grants from Sun Microsytems, Microsoft, and Wright State University.
