"The reason that I chose Wright State is because of the professors. Every professor I have encountered has been willing to help me with my work, to go out on a limb to help me succeed in life and to help me find a job like the one I have now at WesBanco. The best part of attending the Raj Soin College of Business has been meeting new people and making friends for life. This school makes every student feel a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves. It gives students the opportunity to step into a leadership role and make a difference. "
“I formerly was an intern (as a freshman!!) at Smith, Griesmeyer, & Moses LLC - an investment and financial planning firm located in Beavercreek. After my internship expired, they hired me on part-time. I have been there now for over a year and a half! This internship was recommended to me by a great finance instructor, Bill Wood, and has led me to intend in a career in financial planning.”
Why Wright State? Wright State truly cares about their students. But more importantly- so does the College of Business. If you choose the Raj Soin College of Business, you will meet with professors who WANT to get you a job, not because they have to, but because they want to. Classes are not taught by graduate students, which may not seem like a big deal to you, but believe me- it is. Not one class is taught by a graduate student in the Raj Soin College of Business. If offered a full scholarship anywhere for the remainder of my bachelor’s degree- I would not leave WSU and the RSCOB. The College of Business is top-of-the-line and has state-of-the-art facilities. Pay us a visit and find out!
Tips for Success: Get an internship now. Make sure this is your field. After completing my internship, I knew that financial services was for me. But learning about something is only one thing- you have to sell yourself and your products and services too- leading me to my dual-major in marketing.
AACSB, and Dean's Student Advisory Board (brief info about that) The Dean asks for input from his students - and listens. Tell me another college that does that.
Leadership: The Dean’s Student Advisory Board for the College of Business ( I will be the President next year), The Marketing Department Student Advisory Board, The Wright-Patt Credit Union Young Member Advisory Panel, Chief Strategist of the Finance Club, Resident Assistant in the Honors Residential Complex and Volunteer for Project Linus.
Career Plans: I plan on obtaining my CFP(R) or Certified Financial Planner designation and obtaining several licenses that will allow me to sell securities and other financial instruments. I then would like to get my MSFS or Master of Science in Financial Services degree while helping clients secure their financial futures.
Most valuable experience: My most valuable experience so far has been Dr. Ramsey’s Principles of Marketing class- she truly cares (as do all professors) about her students’ well-being and is definitely always willing to help in any way she can. She, like many professors in the RSCOB, bring tons of real-world experience with them that “spices” up regular textbook material..
