Entrance Requirements by Major

Wright State accepts transfer students with an overall grade point average of 2.0 (out of 4.0 scale) (from the last institution that they attempted 12 quarter/9 semester hours or more). However, admission to many of our majors require a higher GPA (and more). Acceptable transfer credit will satisfy any of the requirements.
Check out an abbreviated summary of the entrance requirements for specific majors below. The requirements are organized by colleges, then departments. Grade point averages are cumulative (including all institutions attended, unless labeled otherwise).
- Necessary forms needed to apply for your major are available through the College of Education and Human Services Student Services website.
- A 250-word or less life experience statement; medical history; technical standards form; high school and college (if applicable) transcripts; copy of Wright State acceptance letter; formal application; three letters of recommendation from a current or former employer/administrator, a current or former teacher, and a certified athletic trainer or coach; and interview.
- Application deadline for every fall entrance is March 1.
- Individuals interested in obtaining initial education teacher licensure and endorsements are encouraged to contact the college's Office of Student Services in 378 Allyn Hall, (937) 775-3086, to begin the process of admission and advising.

- Admission to the Social Work program is very competitive.

- All prerequisite courses must be completed with a minimum of a “C” and a minimum grade point average of 2.75. Completion of ENG101, 102, PSY105, 110, BIO105, CHM101*, CHM102, SOC200; a 250–word–or–less life experience statement; and formal application (PDF).
- *CHM 101 will be waived for students who completed one year of high school chemistry with a C or better.
- Application deadlines are March 30th for summer admission and August 30th for spring admission.

- Completion of MTH 229 & 230 with a grade of C or higher in each course; 2.5 GPA or higher for the average of two math courses, MTH 229 & 230
- Cumulative GPA of 2.25, 30 quarter/20 semester hours, 2.25 GPA from all psychology courses (a minimum of two psychology classes must be taken)
Business

The college has a two-tier admission process:
Tier I: 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA, 45 quarter hours (or 30 semester hours), completion of ENG 101 and 102 and either MTH 128 or 129 (or a higher-level math course) with a grade of C or higher. Students who meet the Tier I requirements will be assigned to a pre-business category and will be required to meet the following Tier II requirements before they can enroll in junior- or senior-level business classes.
