CCNY NAMES JACQUALYN MEADOW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

NEW YORK, October 27, 2006 – Jacqualyn Meadow, who has five regional coach-of-the-year honors in women’s basketball to her credit, has been named Athletic Director for The City College of New York (CCNY). She succeeds Robert Coleman, who left to become Director of Athletics at Whittier College in Whittier, Calif.

Ms. Meadow joins CCNY from Hunter College, where she served as Associate Athletic Director responsible for Recreation and Intramurals since 1990. She was also head women’s basketball coach and led Hunter to five City University of New York Athletic Conference championships, in 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2004, and four NCAA Division III tournaments.

Her coaching success earned her Coach of the Year honors from CUNYAC in 1995, 1996, 1999; from the Metropolitan Writers Association in 2003, and from the Skyline Conference in 1998.

“Ms. Meadow brings to The City College unstinting dedication and a winning tradition that should enhance the culture of success established by Robert Coleman,” said Dr. Ramona Brown, Acting Vice President for Student Affairs, in announcing the appointment.

Ms. Meadow said she would continue to build a successful athletic program at CCNY, utilizing her coaching and administrative experience. “I thank City College for granting me this opportunity to lead its athletic teams, coaches and student-athletes and will do so with pride, competitive excellence and high academic standards,” she said.

A Manhattan resident, she holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, with Athletic Coaching Certification, from the State University of New York at Oneonta (1987) and a M.S. in Recreation Administration from Lehman College (1996).

Ms. Meadow’s affiliations include the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and the National Intramural Recreation Sports Association.
