Position Description and Duties
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Physiology, Pharmacology, and Neuroscience department of the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education seeks a Clinical Professor to direct research projects that include the following:
a. innate immunity and identification of the role of innate immune genes in the response to bacterial pathogens
b. effects of lipid structure on interaction with innate immune receptors
c. effects of innate immune genes on bone remodeling
The Clinical Professor will mentor junior faculty and students in research project development, grant writing and manuscript preparation/review, apply for research funding, participate in the teaching of 4th year medical students as (1) lecturer in the fields of immunology and bacterial genetics, (2) small group facilitator and (3) director of one of the 3 teaching laboratories for medical students and physician assistant students. Additionally the Clinical Professor will aid in department office organization and oversee budget records and related office issues.

Bachelor's degree and a record of achievement in a profession or field of expertise related to teaching assignments. Also required is the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Ph.D. and /or M.D. in biological sciences with a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience strongly preferred. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of scholarly research and publications as well as demonstrated experience in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates interested in working in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with interests complementing those of departmental faculty. Priority will be given to candidates with externally funded research programs.
