Position Description and Duties

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Electrical Engineering Department of the City College of the City University of New York invites outstanding applications with strong academic credentials for a tenure track faculty at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The position includes teaching lecture and laboratory-based courses in the area of power generation, transmission and networks. Responsibilities include conducting scholarly research that generates publications in first rate journals and conferences, attracting significant external research funding, and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: power systems, smart grid, power electronics, and power engineering design. The candidate is expected to supervise graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) students, and serve on department and college committees.

The Electrical Engineering Department at The City College has active teaching and research programs in computer architecture, telecommunication networks, wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, signal processing, photonics engineering, remote sensing and power engineering. With its highly motivated students, talented faculty, and ABET accredited programs, the City College's mission emphasizes access and excellence in undergraduate and graduate education and research.

Qualifications and Requirements

An outstanding academic or industrial record and a PhD in Electrical Engineering are required. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and the ability to attract significant research funding. Applicants should, in addition, demonstrate a history of scholarly research in their field.
