CWE ANNOUNCES THE FRANCES S. PATAI FUND LECTURE SERIES “OTHER VOICES: SPEAKING UP AND SPEAKING OUT”

NEW YORK, March 7, 2006 – The Center for Worker Education (CWE) of The City College of New York (CCNY) is pleased to announce the return of the Frances S. Patai Fund Lecture Series for the Spring 2006 semester. Four programs are to be presented: “Sex and Survival – Women and the Holocaust,” Tuesday, March 7, Myrna Goldenberg, Ph.D., Ida E. King Distinguished Visiting Scholar of Holocaust Studies The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. “Brownsville: Black and White,” Thursday, March 30, film screening followed by panel discussion about a multi-racial community torn asunder by the 1968 school strike. “Women Workers Fight for Justice in the Invisible Economy,” Thursday, April 6, Leonora Friedlaender, Vice President SEIU Local 32BJ “Searching for Civil Rights, Finding Neo –Nazis: A study of Adolescents’ Use of Internet Search Engines,” Tuesday, May 2, Jessie Daniels, Adjunct Assistant Professor Hunter College. “Every year, the Frances Patai Series and its profound commitment to provoke thought and to encourage all who attend to take action for change in their community” says Lisa B. Jones, CWE student and member of the Student Government of CWE (SGCWE). Each presentation starts at 6:30 p.m. and is held in the CWE’s 6th floor Auditorium, located at 99 Hudson Street, New York. Lectures are free and open to the public. About Frances S. Patai Frances S. Patai (1930-1998) was an actress, feminist, teacher, writer, trade unionist and proud City College alumna.
