CCNY Center for Worker Education Re-Launches Web Site

Start: 03/24/06
End: 03/24/06

New York, March 23, 2006— Discovering what the Center for Worker Education (CWE) of The City College of New York (CCNY) has to offers is now even easier with its newly redesigned education web site. New features of the web site include student and alumni profiles, CWE news and events, staff and faculty profiles and directory, as well as CWE history and fun facts. Prospective and current students as well as alumni can visit the web site at http://www.ccny.cuny.edu/cwe. The web site provides an easy-to-navigate toolbar for prospective and current students with over 200 web pages of valuable information such as testing deadlines, the admissions process, scholarships and awards, and programs at the Center. In addition, the site offers an alumni section for recent and past alums to reconnect with fellow classmates and participate in alumni-related activities. “It is fantastic,” said CWE student Brenda Schonhaut. “I am thrilled that there is finally more information online that is current and more thorough.” CWE began the process of relaunching its site in July when it hired Ops Divina, a web solutions company, to assist in the redesign of the CWE site. Under the direction of Colin Lange, Director of Marketing & Design at The City College, Matthew Mohr, creative director, and Gerhard Stubi, managing officer of Ops Divina, created several templates to be utilized within the web site content management system, CommonSpot. This was done under the supervision of the CWE Dean Daniel E. Lemons and Communications Coordinator Elena Romero. Content was simultaneously created and later entered by Romero, who currently maintains the site, with assistance from Felix Piña, CWE’s computer lab assistant. Dean Lemons said: “I think our new web site conveys the spirit and essence of CWE, as well as important information for current and prospective students. Now that we can dynamically add to and update information, our students and public can be sure they have easy access to the information they need.” About the Center for Worker Education The Center for Worker Education (CWE), headquartered in Lower Manhattan, is a division of The City College of New York’s (CCNY) College of Liberal Arts & Science.
