Early Childhood Education

The Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Center for Worker Education’s Early Childhood Education degree program (Bachelor of Science) is the City College School of Education’s undergraduate early childhood teacher education program.

The ECE program is dedicated to the intellectual development of working adults and to the creation of a dignified environment in which that development can take place. With a location, hours, and advising suited to working adults, the Center provides an opportunity for college-level learning to a significant sector of the city’s population who because of age, income, and occupational status, might not otherwise have access to higher education.

Graduates of the ECE program are recommended by City College for New York State initial teacher certification in early childhood— birth through second grade. Students must apply for acceptance to the education program and must follow guidelines even if requirements change while they are enrolled in the program.
