The MFA program in Media Arts Production has opened up additional slots for the Fall 2012 incoming class. Because of this the Application deadline has been extended to April 1st! There is still time to apply!

The mission of The MFA in Media Arts Production program is to prepare aspiring media makers to navigate The mission of The MFA in Media Arts Production program is to prepare aspiring media makers to navigate and prosper in the rapidly expanding field of media arts, with equal emphasis on strong original storytelling in both the documentary and fiction genres.

The program emphasizes independent media production through which our students create the imaginative, socially meaningful and cost effective works that have become the hallmarks of the independent media arts community. Students master creative and technical production techniques in a core course structure that is augmented by courses and related learning experiences giving them expertise in the history and theory of independent media production.

The MFA program in Media Arts Production is the only graduate-level program of its kind in the world ’s number one media market offered at an affordable/accessible public institution. The MFA capitalizes on its Manhattan location providing ready access to the talent, organizations and production facilities to build bridges for our students to the media arts community.

The MFA program in Media Arts Production welcomes CHANTAL AKERMAN as one of our new Distinguished Visiting Professors of Film/Video. Chantal directed "Je Tu Il Elle, "La-Bas," "La Captive," "Les Rendevous d'Anna," Toute une Nuit," "News from Home" among others.
