Huang

Helen Huang is a 2008 Sophie and Leonard Davis Scholarship Winner

A 2005 Stuyvesant High School graduate, Ms. Huang has distinguished herself academically and as a volunteer. As a Leonard Davis Community Service Fellow, she volunteered through the Urban Scholars Program to tutor middle school students at Mott Hall.

As a recipient of a Rudin Research Fellowship, Ms. Huang conducted research in the laboratory of Dr. Christopher Chan in Sophie Davis’ Department of Physiology and Pharmacology. The Manhattan resident also volunteers in the Pediatrics Department at Mt.Sinai Hospital.

On campus, Ms. Huang participates widely in co-curricular activities. She is active in many clubs including the American Medical Women’s Association; the Biomedical Asian Health Coalition and the American Medical Student Association.

Born of Chinese immigrant parents, she attended a summit for young leaders sponsored by Americans for Informed Democracy entitled “Becoming a Global Health Entrepreneur.” On top of this, Helen has worked part time through college as a tutor and as a bookseller at the college bookstore.

She will transfer to Albany Medical College in 2010.
