Scholarships & Awards 

Advertising & Public Relations
In recent years, the Ad/PR Program has attracted important scholarship funds to support outstanding students. The Foundation for Women Executives in Public Relations, (WEPR), which has awarded scholarship money to our students since 2003, gave CCNY $55,000 in 2007. The funds are designated for two major scholarships: The Helen Ostrowski Scholarship for International Students, and the Phyllis Berlowe Scholarship for outstanding PR students.

Architecture & Design (Undergraduate)
Association for Women in Architecture Scholarship 
Cash award offered to women students who have completed at least one full year (18 units minimum) of Architecture; Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering as related to Architecture; Landscape Architecture; Urban and/or Land Planning/Design; Interior Design; Interior Architecture; Environmental Design; or Architectural Rendering and Illustration, leading to a degree.

Architecture (Undergraduate)
Carol J. Weissman Kurth Women in Architecture Scholarship
Awarded to a fourth year female student for high academic standing, a passion for Architecture, and a lifelong dedication to the profession.

Chemical Engineering
Roslyn K. Gitlin '46 Memorial Award
Established in 1996 by the family and friends of Roslyn K. Gitlin '46T, this $750 award is given to a third year Chemical Engineering student (preferably female). Apply through the Chair of the Chemical Engineering Department.

Engineering (Undergraduate)
Norma Schlissel Scholarship for Women in Engineering
Recipient selected by the Dean of Engineering. This is a scholarship for female juniors and seniors in engineering, based on need and merit. Award is $2000 a year. Recipient must compose a letter of appreciation to Ms. Norma Schlissel, to be delivered in person to Elena Sturman at the City College Fund.

English (Graduate – Creative Writing)
The Adria Schwartz Award in Women's Fiction
For an outstanding work of short fiction (e.g., a short story or novel excerpt).

The Jeannette Rankin Foundation (JRF) Scholarships for Single Mothers
In the memory of Jeannette Rankin the first woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and the first female member of Congress. Upon her death in 1973 she left money to specifically help mature, unemployed women workers and this led to the beginning of the JRF Scholarship and Grants for single mothers. 

Fellowships & Grants

Architecture & Design
WX Women in Real Estate Foundation
Scholarships and grants given to women in NY area who meet the following criteria: i) academic merit and demonstrated interest in real estate, through courses, clubs, internships, job experience, etc.; ii) financial need and iii) likelihood of working in the New York metropolitan area. Scholarships can range from $2,000 to $10,000 for tuition expenses and certain candidates have the ability to reapply for subsequent years. WX scholarship recipients also benefit from mentoring opportunities with WX members where we can assist recipients with career guidance. WX also hosts networking events that cater to young professionals.

Art (Graduate)
Holly T. Popper Award
Given to a woman graduate of CCNY (not necessarily an undergraduate art major) for study in the department's M.F.A. program. In exceptional circumstances, the award may be given to a CCNY undergraduate from the Art Department entering a M.F.A. program at another institution. The award carries a one-time stipend of $2500 and is not renewable.

Multiple Disciplines (Graduate)
American Association of University Women
AAUW has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe as one of the world's largest sources of funding for graduate women. Fellowship and grant recipients perform research in a wide range of disciplines and work to improve their schools and communities. Their intellect, dedication, imagination, and effort promise to forge new paths in scholarship, improve the quality of life for all, and tackle the educational and social barriers facing women in the United States and around the globe.
