Dr. G. Timothy Johnson

Dr. G. Timothy Johnson is one of the nation's leading communicators of health care information. As medical editor for ABC, he has given millions of television viewers expert insight and advice on Good Morning America since 1975. He also provides on-air analysis of medical news for World News Tonight, Nightline, and 20/20.

Dr. Johnson received a baccalaureate degree summa cum laude from Augustana College, a doctorate in medicine summa cum laude from Albany Medical College, a master's degree in public health from Harvard University, and a bachelor's degree in divinity from North Park Seminary. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Dr. Johnson completed his internship and residency at Albany Medical Center Hospital in 1971, and then became Director of Emergency and Ambulatory Services at Union Hospital in Lynn. He was a research fellow in medicine in the Department of Continuing Education at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital from 1974 to 1975. He continues as a lecturer for Harvard Medical School and a consultant in medicine for MGH.

He is founding editor of The Harvard Medical School Health Letter, and co-author of Let's Talk, published in 1992.

His television features have earned national and Emmy awards. In 1989, former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop presented Dr. Johnson the Surgeon General Medallion.
