About CVPA Dean's Greeting
Dear UMD/Swain/SMU Alumni, Friends and Guests:
On behalf of the CVPA faculty, staff and current students, I would like to extend to you a warm New England welcome!
This web site is designed to inform you of the programs supported by our six academic departments: Art Education, Art History, Artisanry, Visual Design, Fine Arts and Music. The visual arts at UMD are accredited nationally by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, one of only four public higher education institutions in Massachusetts so acknowledged. The performing arts are known for a program of world music and jazz studies. As you view our site you will learn about creative and academic opportunities at both the graduate and undergraduate levels that support the mission of the College and the University on campus in Dartmouth and a the world-class Star Store building in New Bedford.
