Procedures for Temporary Hires on an Emergency Basis

Please note for Emergency/Temporary hires (6 months, excluding academic Part-time Lecturers) the following procedures:
In the past, faculty and staff have been able to forward an email to George Smith, Assistant Chancellor for Equal Opportunity, Diversity & Outreach(EEO/AA) requesting approval to hire on an emergency basis. Please be aware and take note of the fact that the Offices of Associate Chancellor, Human Resources and EEO/AA have implemented a new form and process in order to place a request to hire an individual temporarily or on an emergency basis.
The new process starts by printing the " Approval Form - Temporary Hires on an Emergency basis [PDF]" Form from the Equal Opportunity, Diversity & Outreach website http://www.umassd.edu/eeo/bot/emergencyhire.cfm or the Human Resources website http://www.umassd.edu/hr/jobs_recruitment.cfm. This form should be completed in its' entirety, then approved by the Dean, Director or Department Head and forwarded to EEO/AA for approval. Once EEO/AA has approved the emergency hire, EEO/AA will notify the Dean, Director or Department Head of the approval. All supporting documentation should be attached to the form (resume, copy of grant).
The Office of Equal Opportunity, Diversity & Outreach will forward the emergency/temporary hire to the Associate Chancellor for a Tracking number; Associate Chancellor will follow through with sending this form "Approval Form - Temporary Hires on an Emergency basis" and supporting documents to Human Resources.
