Chestnut Hall

In the year 1971, UMass Dartmouth built what would be the first of several Residence Halls. Phase 1 & 2, (Now knows as Roberts Hall and Chestnut Hall respectivly) encompass 3 separate houses. Robertss Hall consists of house 1, 2, & 3 (blue, red, & yellow, respectively). Chestnut Hall contains houses 4, 5, & 6 (or purple, orange, & green, also respectively).

Roberts Hall was opened in 1971 and Chestnut Hall opened the following year. They are similar in design, having a basement, 3 floors, and both follow the "suite style" living. Each floor also contains a common area, which has a kitchen and dining room for the residents to share. Additionally, there are 2 bathrooms per suite (1 with a bath/shower and 1 with just a shower facility).

Roberts Hall has 2 singles, 135 doubles, 18 "A" room triples, and 10 quads for a total capacity of 366 residents. Chestnut Hall has 62 singles, 114 doubles, and 21 "A" room triples, and 9 quads for a total capacity of 389 residents.
