CCI Faculty & Staff Awards Program

The College of Communication and Information has a special awards program for faculty and staff of CCI schools.

Five awards will be bestowed each year at the All Schools Retreat in August:

Each award winner will receive a certificate and a $500 honorarium.

The CCI Distinguished Scholar should demonstrate exceptional scholarly research, professional or creative activities in a particular professional or academic discipline.

The CCI Distinguished Teacher and Outstanding Teacher should possess comprehensive knowledge of their field(s), organize and present subject matter effectively, stimulate thinking, arouse interest and demonstrate resourcefulness in teaching.

The Outstanding Service Award winner should provide superior service to the school(s) and/or college, positively contribute to the mission of the school(s) and/or college, while using his/her special skills and knowledge to help advance the strategic objectives of the school(s) and/or college.

The CCI Distinguished Advisor should demonstrate a strong commitment to developmental advising, helping students achieve their academic and career goals. The academic advisor should assist students in assessing and cultivating their interests and abilities.  The nominees should go ‘above and beyond’ in their helpful and positive attitude regarding the guidance of students. 

Any undergraduate or graduate student attending Kent State University may nominate a distinguished teacher.  However, the teacher must be a full-time tenured faculty member with seven (7) or more years of teaching experience in a school in the College of Communication and Information. 

Any undergraduate or graduate student attending Kent State University may nominate an outstanding teacher.  However, the teacher must be a non-tenure track or part-time faculty member with a minimum of five (5) consecutive years teaching in a school in the College of Communication and Information. 

Any Kent State University tenured or tenure-track faculty member may nominate a distinguished scholar. Self-nominations are acceptable. The scholar must be a full-time tenured faculty member with seven (7) or more years of experience in a school in the College of Communication and Information.

Any undergraduate or graduate student attending Kent State University may nominate an outstanding professional advisor or faculty member (1) who serves as the student’s academic advisor and (2) who is a full-time employee in a CCI school or in the College of Communication and Information.

Deadline for 2014:  Completed paper nomination forms should be turned in to the College Office, Rm. 131 Moulton Hall, by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Online forms must be completed by midnight Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Late nominations will not be accepted. Nominations may be sent through Campus Mail or emailed to the College email address, ccikent@kent.edu.

All nominations will be held in the strictest confidence.

The awards are sponsored each year by the members of the College Advisory Council. (The CAC is the recommendatory body to the Dean. Each School is represented by one CAC member. The Regional Campuses are represented by one CAC member. CAC members shall be tenured faculty in the College. The CAC is chaired by the Dean or his/her designate who also shall be an ex officio non-voting member of the CAC.)
