Chicago Travel Study
This travel study course will expose students to the rich art scene in Chicago through museum visits, gallery visits, and the annual Sculpture Objects and Functional Art expo, SOFA, at the Navy Pier. For 20 years, SOFA has been an esteemed art fair and has become the premier event showcasing art and design of contemporary craft artists, represented by more than 80 dealers from 13 countries. SOFA includes an acclaimed lecture series boasting more than 30 presentations featuring world-renowned curators, collectors, critics, artists, and dealers. This is an excellent opportunity to see a wide variety of new artwork in one location and to meet in person, many of the artists whose work is being exhibited. In addition to attending SOFA and the Intuit shows, students will visit the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and Chicago’s River North Gallery District.
The Fall 2014 Chicago trip goes from November 6 - November 9. Students are required to pay a special course fee as well as tuition. Both will be charged to their bursar's account when they register.
