On behalf of the Department of Management and Information Systems and the College of Business at Kent State University, we would like to welcome you to the 2nd Annual International Symposium on Sustainable Value Chains. This symposium will be held in Cleveland, the heart of the midwest. Sustainability has dawned on us. In an age of rapid globalization, organizations are constantly revamping their value chains to sustain their operations as well as the environment. The importance of sustainability for a value chain is on both the corporate as well as the academic agenda. Value lies in that intersection of rigor and relevance. This international symposium brings together practitioners from public & private sectors and academic researchers in a lively exchange of information & experiences that highlight today's best practices & innovations in building and practicing sustainable value chains for improved operational, cost & strategic competitiveness. The Symposium provides an annual forum to consider various operational, sociological, behavioral, economic & practical aspects of sustainable value chain solutions, from HR to reusability to recovery, from life-cycle management to strategic contracting & configuration.

This Symposium should be attended by academic researchers & practitioners interested in state-of-the-art research and applications of Sustainable Value Chains. The Symposium provides a friendly forum for the exchange of concepts & ideas that translate research into practice & practice into research.
