International Experience in Accounting

This three-week International Experience in Accounting/Finance course focuses on visiting firms and organizations related to accounting and finance in Paris and London, including the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (CASE), Deutsche Bank, and various public accounting and financial services firms. Among other activities, we will be observing an IASB board meeting where International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are being discussed.  The first week of the course is spent in a Kent State University classroom, followed by a two week trip to Paris and London.
COLLEGE CREDIT(ACCT 43095/53095)
  • Upper-level accounting elective for accounting majors/minors
  • Upper-level general elective for all others

Paris:

  • Financial Services Firm

London:

  • International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
  • Bank of England Museum
  • Public Accounting Firm
  • Deutsche Bank
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Accounting or finance majors/minors
  • 3.0 GPA and have completed ACCT 23020 with a grade of B or higher
COST ESTIMATE:
  • ESTIMATED  trip fee of $2,600 (final cost to be determined 1/2012) covers lodging, travel in London and Paris, and event admission)
  • 3-credit hour Kent State tuition
  • Round-trip airfare
  • Meals and spending money are the responsibility of the student
  • Scholarships covering tuition and airfare (approximate) are available for accounting and finance majors (applications in January 2012)
IMPORTANT DATES
  • Program: May 11-24, 2014
  • Application due November 15, 2013
